INSPECTION PERSPECTIVE:

01 / Overview

A lightning-fast, statically generated journalism platform built with Next.js and Decap CMS, featuring zero database queries, custom Markdown extraction, and Git-backed editorial publishing.

The Core Purpose

Zero-Database Headless Journalism & Media Platform

02 / The Problem

Traditional WordPress and SQL-based media platforms were too bloated, slow, and vulnerable to security attacks for an active media advocacy group that needed instant page delivery and non-technical editorial publishing.

03 / What I Did

Architected and developed the platform. I designed the Git-backed editorial pipeline, built the custom Node.js Markdown extraction API, and implemented the high-performance Next.js frontend.

04 / How I Thought About It

By eliminating the database entirely from the reading experience, we removed SQL injection vulnerabilities, slashed hosting costs, and guaranteed sub-second page loads even during viral news traffic spikes.

05 / What I Built

A custom Markdown-to-HTML rendering pipeline (gray-matter & remark), bespoke file-system extraction API (lib/api.js), Decap CMS Git-Gateway integration, and dynamic Next.js App Router article and category endpoints.

06 / The Architecture & System

Built with Next.js 16, React 19, Decap CMS, Node.js file system parsing, and custom component-driven CSS with orchestrated fade-in animations.

Technical Stack & Infrastructure

Next.js 16 · React 19 · Decap CMS · Headless CMS · Node.js · SSG Architecture

Next.js 16 React 19 Decap CMS Headless CMS Node.js SSG Architecture

07 / The Result

Delivered a media platform with 100% build-time pre-rendered static generation, zero database queries per page view, sub-second load times, and complete editorial autonomy for journalists.

The Lesson

Heavy monolithic CMS platforms can often be replaced with Git-backed static architecture — drastically improving speed, security, and editorial satisfaction.
